“The Louis Carr Foundation has truly blessed me with an internship with Turner Broadcasting, Inc. where I am specifically working in the digital sales department with CNN.  It is not regularly that minorities are granted this opportunity so I have embraced this advantage and used it as a way to open my eyes to new things.  I have been able to meet many producers and executives at CNN who all work on different projects for CNN telecasts.

So far I have been able to shadow a number of employees in various departments throughout Turner, create my own sales plans for possible clients and also create and strengthen connections throughout Turner Broadcasting.  The knowledge and experience I have gained from this internship will not only help me further my career in Broadcast Journalism, but also serve as an inspirational guide to fellow Journalism students.

I am completely aware that this opportunity would have not been granted without the help and guidance provided by the Louis Carr Foundation.  I would especially like to thank Mr. Carr and all the board members who helped make this journey a very informational and remarkable experience.” – Tierra Copeland, Hampton University, Hampton, VA
