magazine, and joined Black Enterprise magazine two years later.
In 1986, he departed Black Enterprise to accept a position with
BET as an Account Executive.
His unique advertising industry
perspectives and experiences have enabled him to quickly move up the ranks of
the company. During Carr’s
nineteen year tenure at BET, he has served as Account Executive, Director, Vice
President, Senior Vice President, and Executive Vice President, prior to his
appointment to President of Media Sales. During
his tenure, BET’s sales growth has averaged 19% annually.
This growth rate placed BET in the top twenty cable networks in 2005.

continue to challenge the media industry for change.
He believes that a lot of the problems the industry is experiencing is
because the marketplace has not embraced multiculturalism.
It is still viewed as a secondary instead of primary concern.
Carr serves on several boards

Advertising Council, BET Interactive, Boys Hope Girls Hope and he is the Founder
and Chairman of the Board of the Louis Carr Internship Foundation.
The foundation provides paid internships for minority students at major
communication companies.
