Temple University, Philadelphia, PA

LCIF Intern Discovery
Communications, Inc., New York, NY
Words cannot express the
gratitude I have for the Louis Carr Internship Foundation. This
experience has truly been a blessing and I will never forget it.
Working at Discovery Communications, Inc. has given me a front row
seat to the inner workings of Advertising Sales. I’ve always
wondered how commercials worked, but I would have never imagined how
much it takes. The organizational culture of Discovery is
professional and challenging yet inviting. Everyone is ready and
willing to share wisdom, advice, and offer help whenever needed. In
addition to learning about the Ad Sales industry, I have acquired
experience and knowledge that is applicable to all aspects of life.
My summer at Discovery Communications, Inc. has given me a new
outlook on life and what my future has to offer. Thank you to the
Louis Carr Internship Foundation, its contributors, and Discovery
Communications, Inc. for this opportunity.

LCIF Intern Carol H.
Williams Advertising, Chicago, IL
The experience
of a lifetime! Interning for Carol H. Williams has been such a
humbling experience. The knowledge and networks I've gain
through this internship are priceless, and will be carried on with
me throughout life. This internship has given me keys elements to
take with me on my path to success. I am very grateful for
LCIF, it has allowed me to get a taste of the real world, before I
graduate.
Aisha Brown, Hampton
University, Hampton, VA

LCIF Intern MediaCom,
New York, NY
Working at MediaCom has
been a wonderful experience! Since I worked in the print buying
department, I was surrounded by magazines, which I love. I was given
the opportunity to meet and speak with sales reps from Vogue to
Seventeen Magazine. Throughout the summer I shadowed team members,
sat in on meetings, prepare PowerPoint presentations and helped out
in anyway that I could. I received a well rounded experience because
I was able to work with more than one team to see how each team
handle various brands. The weekly seminars also helped in gaining a
deeper insight of the advertising world. I am grateful that I
was giving the opportunity to work at MediaCom, I formed great
relationships, gained more knowledge about the media industry and
enhanced my communicative skills.

LCIF Intern BET
Midwest Media Sales, Chicago, IL
My experience at BET
Midwest Media Sales has been a tremendous experience. This
internship experience has brought out the best in me by forcing me
to think outside the box and become more knowledgeable about media
industry. By working here, I first hand have gotten a feeling of
what it will be like in the Corporate world, but I know I have not
even scratched the surface. However, by interning with the Louis
Carr Foundation at BET, I know that I will be prepared once I am
fully in my career. Thank you so much for this opportunity, this
experience has made me a better man.
Carlton Graham,
St. Xavier University, Chicago, IL

LCIF Intern McDonald’s
Corporation, Oak Brook, IL
Interning for the
McDonald’s Corporation was one of the most satisfying and gratifying
endeavors that I have ever embarked on in my entire life. It gave me
experience in the real world and allowed me to network with other
bright young adults who are developing career paths just like
myself. I had the opportunity to gather and understand advertising
methods from a marketing perspective. In addition, I was also
privileged to work on the project for World Children’s Day and also
help promote the Ronald McDonald house of charity, which was very
humbling, and heart warming.
Tatianah Green,
University of Illinois, Chicago, IL

LCIF Intern WBEZ/Chicago
Public Radio, Chicago, IL
My opportunity to be an
LCIF intern was truly a blessing. I’ve had the opportunity to see
the many paths that a career in Communications can lead to. I have
gained some knowledge and motivation to continue my career goals and
an experience to show me the realistic ups and downs. My
favorite experience working for WBEZ was being in the studio whether
learning about or creating a broadcast. That chance to intern in
the radio industry has been better than I expected. I
encourage students to apply to the Louis Carr Internship Foundation;
it is a great way to network with students like them and get support
from professionals who want to help students succeed.

LCIF Intern, GlobalHue
Advertising. Detroit, MI
Experiencing
GlobalHue advertising has been a journey! I LOVE the atmosphere, the
employees are welcoming and the other interns are just as eager for
success as I am. What I love most about GlobalHue is the diversity
it brings and learning Multicultural advertising is even more
rewarding than general market. I am very blessed to have
gotten the opportunity to be an LCIF intern this summer for it has
truly allowed me to branch off from my norm into a new world of
knowledge and opportunity for growth. I encourage any student
to go for this same experience.
Jalyce Mangum,
Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA

LCIF Intern VIBE Media
Group, New York, NY
My experience at VIBE
Media Group has been priceless. I have had the opportunity to
observe and contribute to the performance of a nationally
recognized, multi-media company. Sitting in on editorial and
marketing meetings, I found myself engulfed by professionals with an
impeccable work ethic. Their focus and motivation has struck a
chord. I am grateful to the Louis Carr Internship Foundation for
sponsoring this definitive moment in my life. I can only hope to,
one day, be able to reach out to a younger generation of students
and make an impact in their lives the way Mr. Louis Carr has in
mine. Thank you to Mr. Carr and the foundation for contributing to
the tools I will need to pave my path to success.
Marie Maullon, Point
Park University, Pittsburgh, PA

LCIF Intern PHD-USA,
New York, NY
My internship experience
with PHD through the Louis Carr Internship Foundation is something
that I am extremely grateful for. I worked with three departments
and was able to learn different aspects of each field in the
communication business. Working in each department helped me
thoroughly understand the differences and realize what was for me
and what wasn’t. Everyone I worked with was nice and always willing
to help me when needed. They always encouraged me to ask questions
and come to them with any concerns about projects I worked on. This
experience is something that I will always be thankful for.
I would like to thank Mr. Carr and everyone involved in making this
possible.
Nicole McAdoo, Ithaca
College, Ithaca, NY

LCIF Intern Media Planning Group,
New York, NY
Words cannot describe the amazing
opportunity the Louis Carr Internship Foundation has given me. MPG
was an amazing place to work with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
The people who I was able to work with were extremely friendly and
knowledgeable about the marketing communications field. From the
moment I started they were assigning me real world task to complete
and showed me how to use professional media planning tools. I met
with the CEO of the company and even attended the assistant media
planner-training course, which is what you go through if the company
hired you. This course gave me an overview of the in and outs of
media planning. I learned far more from this course and my
experience here at MPG then what I would have ever learned in a
classroom. I worked in the promotions department and was able to
meet and talk one on one with representatives in different markets
in the United States. At MPG they allowed me to talk directly to
people in charge of major stations, they treated me as another
employee, not just an intern. This foundation has truly provided me
with a life changing opportunity and I look forward to keeping in
contact with MPG and the Louis Carr Internship Foundation.
Dejinay Reid, Utica
College, Utica, NY

LCIF Intern Warner
Music Group, New York, NY
Interning at Warner Music
Group/Brand Asset Group has been one of the highlights of my summer.
I have gained experience beyond an internship position. At Warner
Music Group, I was considered an employee and was given a great
amount of responsibility. I admire Louis Carr for seeing the vision
of opportunity. I believe this foundation has been a profound
instrument that will birth incredible achievements throughout my
career.
Jelani Roberts,
Virginia State University, Petersburg, VA

LCIF Intern Media
Planning Group, New York, NY
Working at MPG has
provided me an experience beyond what our classes can teach us. By
stepping into the corporate world, I got a taste of what the "real
world" is mainly in the field of Human resources that I was assigned
at MPG. With the everyday tasks I was given, it gave me
the opportunity to improve my own skills as well as learn others.
The people I work with are really down to earth, I would just prefer
to get a feel of the other interns fields/area they were assigned at
MPG.
Whitney Smith,
University of Georgia, Athens, GA

LCIF Intern Starcom
MVG, Chicago, IL
Working at Starcom has
provided me an experience well beyond what our classes can teach us.
By stepping into the corporate world, I got a taste of what the
"real world" is like and how the advertising and media agency works.
With the everyday projects I was given, I felt like I was doing real
work, and not just "passing time" tasks. The people I work with are
great. I love the company and would not have changed one thing about
my summer internship.

University of Mississippi, University, MS

LCIF Intern Burrell
Communications Group, Chicago, IL
Words cannot express how grateful I
am to Mr. Carr and the Louis Carr Internship Foundation for having
afforded me the opportunity to intern with the Burrell
Communications Group. This summer at Burrell I learned
invaluable information from leaders within the field of
multi-cultural marketing, and worked with an overall phenomenal
group of people. Anyone wishing to lay the foundation for a career
within the communications industry should definitely apply for this
program as it will garner them an unforgettable, life changing
experience. Again, many thanks to Mr. Carr and to the Foundation for
its generous impartation of both insight and inspiration.
Diana Trotter,
Virginia State University, Petersburg, VA

LCIF Intern American
Advertising Federation, Washington, DC
My internship at the
American Advertising Federation has been a wonderful experience.
Because of the friendly
and relaxed atmosphere, I have thoroughly enjoyed working for this
company. I have been
able to work hands-on with the Mosaic Awards, National Student
Advertising Competition,
Student Conference, Most Promising Minority Students Program,
and several other
projects which enhanced my organizational, composition, planning and
communications skills. I have learned the planning process and the
necessary steps that someone has to take in order for a project to
be successful. I have also been able to meet with some of the
top-leading companies in the advertising industry. The Louis Carr
Internship program is a great way for minorities to receive hands-on
experience that they need in order to achieve their professional
goals.
A'ngelique Tyree,
Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA

LCIF Intern
Media Planning Group, Chicago, IL
Being a Louis Carr
Foundation Intern has been a rewarding, yet challenging experience.
It became a gateway to new opportunity, experience, and discovery of
the media world as well of myself. As an intern at the Media
Planning Group, I was able to work with a well-regarded, youthful,
and relaxed company who helped me to adjust to the new atmosphere
immediately. I was assigned to work with the Kmart media
planning team and with them was taught the planning, strategy,
applications, and executions of media placement in the industry.
Learning
about media planning with the Kmart team has helped to match my
skills and interests towards a set career path that I would not
otherwise have had if not given the chance to get first-hand
experience. Receiving this internship motivates and challenges me to
become the best that I can be within the workplace, school, and
community. It has giving me an opportunity to explore my field of
study as well as broaden my horizons about the world outside of my
small hometown in Virginia. I look forward to being able to
give back to the community once I begin my career in the
communications field as you all have done for me. I thank you,
Louis Carr and Board Members, for your confidence and willingness
to help me achieve my goals.
