2007 LCIF Interns

Lindsey Adams, Columbia College, Chicago, IL

LCIF  Intern - Starcom Worldwide, Chicago

My internship at Starcom Worldwide was the best experience of my career.

Throughout the summer I attended Brown Bags, transition meetings and shadowing

sessions in every department.  I also was able to collaborate with the creative and

account executives from our sister company Leo Burnett.  I learned about the

planning, strategy, negations and execution of the media industry.  I worked specifically

on the Nintendo team but also became familiar with the Video, print, magazine, Out

of home and internet teams.  Overall my internship has honed in on my communication,

critical thinking and productivity skills.

It has expanded my horizons in many way in terms of communicating, articulating

and being able to relate with people differently in the line of advertising, events

and really gives minorities a focus in believing  one can achieve their goal if

they just stay focused and persistent.

was hands on there was nothing that an intern was unable to see.

LCIF Intern - Carol H. Williams Advertising, Chicago

It was a great pleasure to work at Carol H. Williams Advertising in Chicago this

summer! I have learned so much about myself and about the communications industry

in such a short amount of time. The people there were so welcoming and helpful and I

will definitely keep in touch with most of them. I was blessed to be able to work on

different accounts and learn more about advertising by way of account planning, event coordinating and media

buying.  I have truly realized my passion and I know exactly

what I want to do with my career. This was the best internship I've ever had and I thank

Being an intern through the Louis Carr Internship Foundation has been an experience that

I will forever treasure and remember.  My internship with MTV Networks has definitely

widened my knowledge of the media world and has allowed me to learn about the intricate

details that are required for television broadcasting.  My direct supervisors and the other

employees of the company were always willing to explain the necessities of certain jobs,

and they were very helpful when assistance was needed.  Interning with MTV Networks

also allowed me to meet inspiring individuals who began their career as an intern like myself

but who have now advanced in this discipline.  I have had the opportunity to learn more about

a field that I love, and I must say that this internship has encouraged me to continue my

journey in the television and media profession.

LCIF Intern - GlobalHue, Detroit, MI

The Louis Carr Internship Foundation has bestowed upon me a true blessing by placing me

in the Traffic Department of GlobalHue, the largest advertising and marketing agency in the nation

operated and owned by people of color.  On a daily basis I get to interact with the producers,

account teams and creative minds that bring a client’s vision to life.  Seeing the extensive process of how an

advertisement is formed and marketed firsthand in a step-by-step process is a very interesting yet fulfilling

experience.  Viewing or hearing the final approved version of an ad is equally rewarding.

As an intern at Global Hue I feel like I’m apart of the agency.  Everyone is so professional yet approachable

which makes for great opportunities to network.  I am thankful to Mr. Carr and

the foundation for guiding me further in the right direction of my future career in the telecommunications industry.

what to expect. All I knew was that I was going into a fast paced city with an

even faster paced company.  Although I was nervous in the beginning, my fears

and my shyness quickly dissipated.  The opportunities provided to me through the

My Louis Carr Internship Foundation placement was with Discovery Networks in New York

City.  The  knowledge that I have acquired while working on this internship has given me a
