LCIF
Intern - Starcom Worldwide, Chicago
My
internship at Starcom Worldwide was the best experience of my career.
Throughout
the summer I attended Brown Bags, transition meetings and shadowing
sessions
in every department. I also was able to collaborate with the creative and
account
executives from our sister company Leo Burnett. I learned about the
planning,
strategy, negations and execution of the media industry. I worked
specifically
on
the Nintendo team but also became familiar with the Video, print, magazine, Out
of
home and internet teams. Overall my internship has honed in on my
communication,
critical
thinking and productivity skills.

Interning
at the Advertising Council has been a tremendous experience for me.
It
has expanded my horizons in many way in terms of communicating, articulating
and
being able to relate with people differently in the line of advertising, events

and media relations. The Louis Carr

It
was a great pleasure to work at Carol H. Williams Advertising in
Chicago
this
summer!
I have learned so much about myself and about the communications industry
in
such a short amount of time. The people there were so welcoming and helpful and
I
will
definitely keep in touch with most of them. I was blessed to be able to work on
different
accounts and learn more about advertising by way of account planning, event
coordinating and media buying. I have truly realized my passion and I know
exactly
what
I want to do with my career. This was the best internship I've ever had and I

LCIF Intern - MTV Networks,
New York
Being
an intern through the Louis Carr Internship Foundation has been an experience
that I wil
l forever treasure and remember. My
internship with MTV Networks has definitely widened
my knowledge of the media
world and has allowed me to learn about the intricate details that
are required
for television broadcasting. My
direct supervisors and the other employees of the
company were always willing to
explain the necessities of certain jobs, and they were very
helpful when
assistance was needed. Interning
with MTV Networks also allowed me to meet
inspiring individuals who began their
career as an intern like myself but who have now advanced
in this discipline.
I have had the opportunity to learn more about a field that I love, and I
must
say that this internship has encouraged me to continue my
journey
in the television and media profession.

LCIF Intern - GlobalHue,
Detroit
,
MI
The
Louis Carr Internship Foundation has bestowed upon me a true blessing by placing
me
in
the Traffic Department of GlobalHue, the largest advertising and marketing
agency in the
nation operated and owned by people of color.
On a daily basis I get to interact with the
producers, account teams and
creative minds that bring a client’s vision to life.
Seeing the
extensive process of how an advertisement is formed and
marketed firsthand in a step-by-step
process is a very interesting yet
fulfilling experience. Viewing or
hearing the final approved
version of an ad is equally rewarding.
As an intern at GlobalHue I feel like I’m apart of the
agency.
Everyone is so professional yet approachable which makes for great
opportunities
to
network. I am thankful to Mr. Carr
and the foundation for guiding me further in the right
direction of my future
career in the telecommunications industry.

New York
My
experience with the Louis Carr Internship Foundation has been phenomenal to say
the least.
I
was placed with Starcom MediaVest Group based in
New York City
. I wasn’t sure exactly
what
to expect. All I knew was that I was going into a fast paced city with an even
faster paced
company. Although I was
nervous in the beginning, my fears and my shyness quickly
dissipated.
The opportunities provided to me through the foundation and the company
have been
endless, and I have learned to take advantage of every single one of
them. Because of the
relationships
I
have built with the company and its affiliates over the summer I plan on
returning to
Atlanta
,
GA
, where I attend school, with an exceptional employment opportunity.
I am eternally grateful
for Mr. Carr and his foundation because without
his heart and determination to give to the
community I would have never had the
chance to spend a summer in the biggest city in the
U.S.,
working for one of the largest advertising firms around.

My

at the
station is one that I never expected in such a corporate setting.
Although we worked really hard,
we worked as a family. I learned the importance
of working as a team to execute dynamic
results. As a future television
producer, this experience was definitely a necessary one and I
now feel that
much more confident when working on the corporate and business side of things. I
want to thank Mr. Carr for making this experience possible and if I could do

The
Louis Carr Internship Foundation has truly changed my life. Before this summer I
was a
small town girl with big dreams. My internship at PHD
USA
has turned a dream into reality. As
I prepare to return to
Alabama
to complete my senior year of college I feel a new sense of
purpose and
direction. Working and living in NYC has challenged me in so many ways; not only
have I have learned an immense amount about the media industry but also about
myself. The
LCIF has renewed my drive for success and has given me the
opportunity to gain the
experience that lectures and text books can not teach.
Above
all, Mr. Carr has inspired me to help others succeed. He has changed so many
lives and
even generations to come through his Foundation. No words or
combination of one-thousand
words could ever express my sincere appreciation and
gratitude to him or the members on the
Board of Directors for believing in me
and investing in the future of so many
other
young, minority adults.

Interning with LCIF at Media Planning Group was an exciting experience.
I was able to meet with the CEO and was given the opportunity to work with the
Broadcast Dept. with the newest client, Sears. While I was at MPG, many different
network and magazine representatives gave presentations that I was able to participate in.
I am most of all extremely fortunate for the opportunity to network with energetic and
knowledgeable individuals in the field. Thank you

LCIF Intern - Discovery Networks,
New York
My
Louis Carr Internship Foundation placement was with Discovery Networks in
New York
City
. The knowledge that I have acquired
while working on this internship has given me a
strong foundation in
communications within a professional work environment, which I will use
throughout my professional career. There
was a lot for me to learn using real data and network
computer formats, but
everyone encouraged me to ask questions and talk to people at all the
different
levels, from assistants to Senior Vice Presidents.
I was very grateful to work with
such great people. The assignments I
completed gave me a deeper understanding of Ad Sales
and why these functions are
very important to field of broadcast communications.
It was a very
unique experience, and I strongly recommend it for future

communications.
